The Mental Health Continuum: A Starting Line to Online Therapy Las Vegas
I took training on mental health for NCAA athletes and walked away with a great visual of how to explain mental health with my work with online therapy in Las Vegas. When most people think about mental health, they think about it as healthy and unhealthy. It’s either you’re mentally healthy or you’re struggling. There is no gray. In 2021, the Association for Applied Sports Psychology (AASP) introduced a mental health continuum that offers a more realistic and helpful perspective. Instead of a black-and-white view, it shows that mental health exists on a spectrum.
Here are several questions I think about in terms of mental health
Think about the different areas of your life. How are you functioning?
Are you thriving, feeling motivated, and using healthy coping strategies?
Are you feeling stressed, anxious, or irritable, but still managing?
Are you depressed, burnout, or in a panic?
As someone providing online therapy in Las Vegas, I’ve found this framework to be incredibly useful. It helps clients understand that it’s normal to move back and forth along the continuum of mental health. You don’t need to wait until you’re in crisis to ask for help.
I believe that everyone should be in therapy, just as I believe that everyone should see a physician on a regular basis. How regularly you should see a therapist depends on where you fall on the mental health spectrum. If you’re the high end of the continuum and all areas of your life are firing on all cylinders, you may need an annual visit just for a check in. If you’re on the other end of the spectrum and your functioning and performance is starting to nose dive, you may need monthly or weekly visits. Therapy can help your mental health.
Whether you’re a high achiever, a parent juggling responsibilities, or someone facing burnout, online therapy in Las Vegas offers a flexible, confidential way to care for your mental well-being from the comfort of home.
Getting a grasp of where you fall on the continuum is the first step toward healthier habits and deeper emotional insight. No matter where you fall on the spectrum, I’m here to help.
